In December, 2008, I visited my
mother in my hometown of Bay City, Texas. One day we drove to Matagorda, a small
community on the Gulf Coast at the mouth of the Colorado. After crossing the
Intercoastal Canal, we came upon a cattle drive pressing toward the beach area.
It was our great experience to come upon the annual cattle drive to Matagorda Island that has continued each winter since the late 1880s. Each winter the cattle owners gather their herds and swim them across the Colorado, barely 1/2 mile from the Gulf of Mexico. The trip is reversed in the spring. I did the best I could with the technology I had that day. I hope you enjoy this offering.
